Tottenham have recalled defender Japhet Tanganga from his loan spell at Augsburg and are now working on loaning him out to a Championship side for the rest of the season.

That is according to Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick, who claims that the decision to terminate his loan deal with the Bundesliga club was made after he failed to make a single appearance for them.

The report claims that the club is now ready to send him to spend the second half of the season in the Championship.

Tanganga’s current contract is set to expire in the summer, but Spurs have the option to extend it by an additional year. And Fabrizio Romano has stated that the club wants to find a prompt solution for the player.

He is an academy product who worked his way up to the first-team but has failed to establish himself in the team since then – mainly due to injuries.

With his contract ending in the summer, the 24-year-old has a final opportunity to show Spurs his potential.

His performances during the upcoming loan spell will likely play a crucial role in determining his future at the club.
